Sexy Halle Rocks the Boots

Wednesday, March 28th, 2007

Halle Berry is just too hot for herself. She’s not getting older, she’s getting better. At 40. she has defined her style sense and always comes out looking a winner. I posted awhile back that she recycles her shoes. Meaning that she wears her slamming shoes to more than one red carpet event. Shows signs of a reasonable woman to me. Good fashion sense!

Last week Halle co-hosted Host Much On Demand in Toronto, and showed just how to wear jeans tucked into boots. I see this done so badly most of the time, that it was way cool to see the look rocked correctly, the way Halle did.

halle-boots.jpg

Notice the fashionable pointed to boot. Notice that the jeans were neatly tucked in, not bulging out. Notice that her jeans FIT! This is how to wear jeans in boots.

halles-boots.jpg

And looking at the soles of her boots, I think she recycles these too. Pretty worn…Nice to see that a celebrity gets miles out of her shoes.

Piperlime’s Rachel Zoe Loves Ballet Flats

Tuesday, March 27th, 2007

Rachel Zoe, stylist for Piperlime, picks out the bests of spring flats.

Go for bright colors, prints, metallics and the adorable ballerina flat. A deep vamp adds a bit of sexiness to your flats. Avoid flats that gap — a sign of a bad fit.

Happy shoe shopping!

I Found Stylish Comfortable Shoes

Monday, March 26th, 2007

I’m a diva. I know it and admit it. Everyone who knows me I’d rather look cute in a pair of shoes and sacrifice comfort in a heartbeat. But I have been in search of a comfortable shoe. Unfortunately all the comfy shoes look just like that. Comfortable. Where’s the style, the oomph factor. Well, I think I found it. Cole Haan with Nike Air Technology. When I first saw this line of shoes, there were only a few options. Now they have some seriously sexy shoes that I can wear with comfort. Check them out:

Every Girl Needs a Pair of Hot Red Shoes

Friday, March 23rd, 2007

I remember the first time I put a pair of red leather European Mary Janes on my little girl. She smiled, her eyes gleamed and she eagerly modeled her shoes for me. She was in love with those shoes. Unfortunately, I passed my love of shoes on to her, as she still has a penchant for cute expensive shoes. The point to this little anecdote is that as grown up girls, we still need red Mary Janes. But we need HOT red Mary Janes. Mary Janes with a stiletto heel. With a grown up red lipstick color. With a wicked pointed toe. Ones that make your legs look hotter than ever. And none other than the granddaddy of hot shoes himself, Manolo Blahnik, has a beautiful red Mary Jane patent snakeskin in his Spring collection. Lets just say the Mary Jane has grown up.

From this:

Comfortable Shoe Brands

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007

I hate to admit it, but I recently bought a pair of Aerosoles. They aren’t the most stylish shoes on the planet, but they certainly do rate high in the comfort category. I really do have a twisted sense of priorties. I sincerely believe that shoes should look better than they feel. That’s all well and good until you have to stand for a few hours, slapping makeup on someone’s face. (I’m a makeup artist by trade). And while I have worked in stilettos, high heeled boots, platform sandals and more unreasonalbly uncomfortable shoes, due to a recent injury, I have had to conform to a sensible shoe. (Sensible is truly subjective here, since I consider Jimmy Choo’s to be sensible). Aerosoles has new styles in, many of which are following shoe trends. Platforms and wedges among them.

aerosoles-2.jpg

gucci-flat.jpg
Aerosoles flats, pretty cute. I can imagine I’m wearing Gucci flats because of that little metal doo dad on the top of the shoe. Reminicent of the Gucci horse bit. I like the black patent. Does it compare to Gucci though?born.jpg

My best friend always wears shoes based on comfort. Since we wear the same size, I’ve been grabbing her shoes and trying them on recently. Now, I’m on the hunt for more comfortable, sensible reasonable shoes. She turned me on to a brand called Born. Being the mother to teenagers, I was thinking about the band Korn — but no, shoes named Born. clarks.jpgShe also wears Clarks. So I did a little online shopping research and came up with two pair that I could wear if I didn’t look down at my feet.

Danskos are extremely popular among doctors, nurses, chefs, waiters, waitresses — others that spend untold hours on their feet. They are just not the kind of shoe that works with my fashionista outlook. Maybe with pants…

Mephisto is another brand that may be comfortable, but I’ll pass. Just too ugly. And I can’t forget the shoe that’s reigns supreme in my neck of the woods (I live on the Berkeley border), the ever ugly, ever comfortable Birkenstock. The last time I wore these shoes, I was pregnant with my first daughter. My feet spread out so much from all that wide open space, that I had to invest in a whole new shoe wardrobe after she was born. No Berkies for me!

The only good thing about this mission to find comfortable shoes, is that I get to shop!

Pet Peeve — Unpainted Toe Nails in Open Toe Shoes

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

I really, really, really hate the look of plain ole toe nails peeking from an open toe shoe or sandal. It just think it’s plain ugly. I see this everyday on the street. And I suppose that’s ok. But when I see celebrities who are making goo gobs of money with naked toe nails, it really irks me. I mean, they spend hundreds of dollars on the shoes for the red carpet occasion. Designers like Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Stuart Weitzman, Brian Atwood, Manolo Blahnik among others grace their pampered feet. I’m sure they have pedicures before the occasion as well. At least I hope so. (If not, I can hook them up for $15) So why not just put a little paint on those tootsies??? It greatly improves the presentation.

Check out these red carpet unpainted toes:

GAP Expands Shoe Collection

Tuesday, March 20th, 2007

GAP has always had a few shoes in its lineup. But recently they have expanded that line up to include more than a few. Currenly on their website, GAP has a complete selection of the Spring Trends. Flats, Espadrilles, Wedges, thongs, casual wooden platforms and even Converse. This is a great site to buy your trendy shoes, as the prices are reasonable. So once the season is over, you don’t mind if you have worn your favorite shoes into the ground. It’s not like trying to preserve your favorite pair of designer heels. (Can you imagine wearing out a pair of Jimmy Choo’s or Christian Louboutin’s in a couple months??)

I’m wondering if this new selection of shoes from GAP happens to be because of the success of their new shoe shopping site, Piperlime.

Christian Louboutin, Style Innovator

Monday, March 19th, 2007

Any woman who is a true devotee of beautiful shoes, must give all due homage to Christian Louboutin. The current issue of Allure features Chrisitan Louboutin as an modern day influencer in fashion. I’m not one to argue. He makes the most beautiful shoes. He clearly understands what makes a woman drool over leather and straps. The coveted red sole makes more red carpet appearances than any other shoe. If I could afford a wardrobe of Christian Louboutin shoes, I’d probably be afraid to wear them. I wouldn’t want to scuff that gorgeous sole. In the meantime, I’m satisfied to add yet one more pair to my lust list.

cl.jpg

• Metallic pewter leather.
• Peep toe.
• Covered platform sole and heel.
• Signature red sole.
• Made in Italy.
Abailable at Bergdorf Goodman for $785

In case anyone forgot, I’m a size 11M.

Step up Your Game with Some Color

Friday, March 16th, 2007

Are your sneakers basic white, or black or brown? Mix it up. Add some spice to your footwear. Try a little color with your sneaks. Every major athletic shoe company has some jazzy sneakers. reebok-sj-retro-aztec-sneakers.jpg

Check out this Reebok SJ Retro Aztec sneakers in blue/citron/red/navy. $80 at Nordstrom.

I love Puma’s sneakers. They are actually my sneaker of choice. I used to be an avowed Adidas fan. Especially when I played tennis everyday, but the style of Puma is right up my alley. I in particular love the laceless styles that they make. I travel quite a bit for work, so being able to pull those suckers off and throw them right back on without lacing is ideal for airport security lines. Check out colorful sneak: LAB II WOMENS
Color: Violet Quartz/Orchid Purple/White
Price: $70.00

puma.jpg
Originally released in 1981, the LAB II is a lightweight trainer with an unique midsole presentation. The LAB II is made of mesh.

padidas1-3234072_pattern_w345a.jpg
Now, Adidas still is on track with great shoes, and colorful ones at that. I love this red sneak. The Spider is $90 and is pictured in Victory Red/Amber. Hot shoes.

Who doesn’t love old school Chuck Taylors? My colleague at Shopping Tips Online paid homage to Chuck Taylor’s recently. Well, old school school meets hip hop bling with this metallic high top Chuck. Right on time for the spring metallic shoe trend as well.

metallic-chucks.jpg

prodigy_nyc1.jpgSo if you aren’t an oline shopper, check out shoe store in your area that specialize in cool sneakers. On the East Coast, check out Prodigy. Prodigy is a new sneaker store in the East Village, on Avenue B (Corner of 2nd Street), NYC. They sell a wide range of Nike products, including Jordans, Nike Skateboarding and Nike Quickstrike. Here is their address!

Flat Out Gorgeous

Thursday, March 15th, 2007

Okay, I’m not a flats girl. I much prefer a well sculpted, hand-made, fine leather Italian, stiletto heeled shoe. But, given that I do have a modicum of commen sense, I realize that flats have their place. And of late, I’m seeing some pretty darn cute ones. All I can summize from this is that flats must be part of the spring shoe look. And I suppose that fits when we consider that Spring 2007 is diverse with romantic and sporty style leading the pack. Both of those style are suited to a flat shoe.

linea-paolo-flat.jpgI have gotten emails from Nordstrom.com featuring flats — very pretty ones I might add. Bonus right now is free shipping with any shoe purchase. (Go for it!) I picked out a couple pair at Nordies that I think I could wear quite well. Not only are they cute and reasonably priced, they incorporate the looks for spring. The silver metallic flats by Linea Paolo are $89.95. If you aren’t in for the metallic look, there are other color options.
dolce-vita-morritz.jpg
This Dolce Vita flat is a great price at $59.95. In black patent it works with dresses, pants, jeans — casual or dress up. Very cute.

For sheer comfort and a tad bit of style, check out Aerosoles. They are featuring dozens of flats plus the bonus of a Swarovski pendant and earriangs with any $75 purchase.

Happy shoe shopping!

Saks Spring Shoe Trend — Platforms

Wednesday, March 14th, 2007

I love Saks shoe selection. It’s right on target and to the point with the best of designer names. You don’t have to worry about picking the wrong shoe — they are all gorgeous. Right in step for spring, Saks interprets the spring trend in platforms. Just like wedges, they are here to stay. And how happy I am. I love platforms. Not only do you gain another inch in height, but they are much more comfortable and make maneuvering on heels that much easier!

031407_wi_platform3.jpg

My favorite picks from Saks:

Both in black patent, both classic. From Mui Mui an updated Mary Jane and from Christian Louboutin a gorgeous pump.

miu-miu.jpgcl-black-patent.jpg

A bonus for shopping online at Saks, spend $150 and you get free shipping. No problem when you are shopping these designer names.

Go Mod with Missoni Shoes

Wednesday, March 7th, 2007

Missoni the mix master of mod has a shoe that will have you thinking flower power. If you didn’t live the sixties, don a pair of these babies and you will be thinking you are on Haight Street in San Francisco.

missoni.jpg
Available at Intermix:
You’ll wear these gorgeous platform sandals forever. Missoni styles them in their signature zigzag knit in a palette of hot brights: pink, purple, lilac, orange, white, black, green, yellow, marigold, lime and brown, The front of the sandal has skinny suede straps in orange, yellow, purple and black topped with perky fabric bow, plus purple suede ankle straps. The platform goes from 1/2″ to 3/4″ and is fabric-covered… as is the underside of the arch of the shoe. 4″ wooden stiletto heels. The soles are rubberized (so you don’t slip on the red carpet).

About Shoe Boxers

Would you rather spend your last dollar on a killer pair of Jimmy Choo stilettos or save your cash and traipse around town in a pair of last years flip flops? If you chose the latter, this site is not for you. Shoeboxers is for the Shoe Diva. For the girl who stands out in a crowd – likely because her 4 inch heels have her towering over everyone else.
