Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show - Awesome Shoes

Tuesday, November 28th, 2006

Ok, so I’m probably the only person on the planet who has the nerve to look at the shoes the Vickie’s Secret models are wearing in this year’s show. The thing about it is that they are strutting some slamming stilettos. And of course, the shoes make all the difference in how the models walk. The Stiletto Strut is quite important. Can you imagine Gisele in flip flops with those big ole Angel Wings? Not cute at all.

Check out some of my favorites from the show:

Gisele in Red Patent Knee High Boots. Totally hot.

Of course I love these metallic ankle straps:

Do you think Justin Timberlake is checking out the shoes?

Who is Daniblack?

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Daniblack happens to be a shoe company founded by husband and wife team Danny and Barbara Schwartz. Danny Schwartz is CEO of Schwartz & Benjamin, which produces shoes for Juicy Couture, kate spade and Michael Kors. So they have a good footing in the industry. Launched in 2005, DaniBlack has garnered attention from editors at leading fashion magazines.

Their shoes are straightforward and on the conservative side of trendy. They do look like they have a certain comfort level – the heels are too terribly tall and have a nice width to them. Daniblack is available online at Zappos and Shoes.com.

Nine West Shoe Sale

Monday, November 13th, 2006

Give thanks for a shoe sale. So says my email from Nine West. Nine West rolls out trendy styles each season without putting a dent in your wallet. That’s why I love them. (I have about 6 pair of shoes in my basket waiting for this sale!) They have the slick patents, platform pumps, wedges, leopard prints and beautiful boots that are right on target for fall/winter.

You have to buy two pair to take advantage of the 20% savinags. But hey, that’s not hard to do. The sale is online at the Nine West website and in stores.

Nordstrom Half Yearly Sale - I Smell New Shoes!

Wednesday, November 8th, 2006

It’s here folks! The Half Yearly Sale at Nordstrom. Since I work 2 Bart (subway) stops from a major Nordstrom in San Francisco, I will be hitting them up today in person. Shoe sales just gets my blood pumping. And since I am online all day, I can pick up a few pair of sale shoes from Nordstrom.com. The sale is storewide, but my thing is shoes, so that’s my first stop. The sale starts at 33% off regular prices, and for those of you who await this sale every six months, know that the prices do drop significantly. The problem is that those gorgeous pumps you are eyeing will probably disappear by the time the sale reaches 50% off. As I have mentioned before, I love this store for shopping because they carry large size shoes.

If you are not selfish, you can also shop shoes for juniors, childrens shoes, baby shoes and shoes for the man in your life. I happen to love thier childrens shoes. All my daughters have been spoiled by wearing italian shoes since they were born. The love of shoes. Sigh.

Where’s my credit card? There’s a sale waiting.

Cruising for Gucci

Tuesday, November 7th, 2006

Just got an email from Saks that the Gucci cruise line of shoes is in. I never really paid attention how popular these cruise lines are. (Check out my blog about Jimmy Choo’s cruise line at Saks a few days ago.) Anyway, they look great. Lots of open toes and neutral colors. I happen to be in love with the chunky wedge heel sandal with ankle strap in black suede. Of course it has the requisite Gucci gold horsebit ornament on the toe. Trés chic. It also comes in a color called Cur. For your information and mine, that’s a brown that’s a tad past caramel but not quite cocoa. I’m also in love with the Hollywood slide. It reminds me of the ones that Della Stret used to wear on Perry Mason. Lastly is the clog inspired mule made with signature Gucci sand colored fabric. Very South Beach. Quite cruise worthy.
gucci-cruise.jpg gucci-slide.jpg gucci-clog.jpg

Things, slides, mules, evening pumps and even a boot are part of this collection. For the life of me, I can’t understand why anyone on a cruise would need a “Montana Boot”.

Since no Carribean, Mediterranean or World Cruises are in my near future, I’ll just slide on my mules, don some “stunna” shades and cruise on over to Whole Foods to do my shopping for dinner.

Shoe Contest

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

No, I’m giving away any fabulous shoes. But Fendi is. I have quite a competitive streak, and really hate to spoil my odds at winning, but I’ll pass on the info. This week’s InStyle newletter has a link to a contest that Fendi is sponsoring. It’s more than just fill in your name, email address and physical address kind of contest. You actually have to write an essay about why your friend needs a pair of shoes. If you win, both you and your friend get a pair of shoes. And there are 10 winners, so that equals 20 pair of shoes.

I’m trying to get all my aliases in order as I type…

Write something truly compelling. Like how you and your friend are so fortunate to wear the same size. So you job share. One wears the shoes to work one day. The other the next. So you can really use 2 new pair of shoes. Then you can both work full time and buy lots of shoes. And live happily ever after.

Weekly Shoe Pick

Wednesday, November 1st, 2006

Ok, I’m stealing this from Trudy over at The Elementary Chef, but Wednesday’s are for Shoe Picks! (Thanks Trudy!) I got my InStyle Spring 2007 AccessoriesReport today, and OMG, the shoes. There were so many reported on that I fell in love with, that I should just feature a new one each week, rather than inundate you with too many at once. My first pick is this Valentino open toe pump.

It’s bone leather D’Orsay with a Black Patent bow. I think it’s versatile — can be dressed up or down. What do you think?

Think Pink- A Good Reason to Buy!

Wednesday, October 25th, 2006

I really don’t need a reason to shop, but I always feel better when my hard earned cash is going to a worthy cause. So I’ve gotten my pink Stila lipgloss and Philosophy shower gel emblazoned with a pink ribbon that I buy every October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness. But, I figure I have bigger fish to fry. So I did a search for shoes in honor of the month. Stuart Weitzman has an entire auction of the most gorgeous shoes for the cause. Designed by models, the shoes reflect their personality and style. But the perfect shoe to reflect Breast Cancer Awareness is the pink pump designed by model Bar Rafaeli. The description on www.stuartweitzman.com says: This beautifully simple pink shoe, topped off by a pink ribbon meant to symbolize breast cancer awareness (and adorned with Swarovski crystals), is a reflection of this model’s minimalist (but gorgeous) taste. Bar also signed the sole of the shoe, as well as a photograph of herself. They are $325, and I’m tempted to bid on them myself. But how often would I wear a pink pump. Although, I rarely ask myself that when making other shoe purchases.
stuart-weitzman-bc-awareness-stiletto.jpg

Shoebuy.com is giving making a contribution to the cause from all sales of pink shoes this month. Lots of categories to choose from – children’s, dressy, boots and more.

Even Avon has a flip flop for $10 with proceeds going to the research for the cure.
bc-flip-flop-avon-10.gif
I’m not a golfer, but I swore that if I ever took up the sport, I would look pretty darn good out there on the green.
bc-golf-shoes.jpgI can’t believe I found golf shoes adorned with pink. How cute are these?
Not to be forgotten is QVC, who each year does a major sale of shoes with net proceeds that go to breast cancer research and education.
Shop with a conscience!

Shoe Organization for Shoe Lovers

Sunday, October 22nd, 2006

For the true shoe fanatic, keeping shoes organized isn’t a chore, it’s a pleasure. Now there are many ways in which to keep your magnificent collection organized. For those with the major bucks to match a major investment, a cedar shoe closet may be in order. Ok, I’m dreaming now. A walk in closet, built in shelves with wall to wall Manolo’s, Choo’s, Louboutin’s. Check out Star Jones shoe closet. star jones shoe closet Nothing compared to Diva Mariah Carey’s.
mariahs-shoe-closet.jpg
I call that serious shoe organization when you have a whole wall of gold shoes.

Another great way to organize your shoes is to put them in nice clear shoe storage boxes. Snap a Polaroid and attach it to the outside of the box. Shoes are protected from dust and you have an instant inventory of your favorite possessions. They are found at your favorite Target type store; better versions are at Hold Everything and the Container Store.shoe-bins.jpg
If the shoe bins are just too much trouble, take the Polaroid and attach it to the original shoe box. You will still have an at-a-glance inventory without opening the box.

There are also the over-the-door shoe organizers. I’m not really a fan of these contraptions. They don’t hold up well, and they put weird dents in your shoes. Who wants to screw up a good pair of shoes? But, if you have space constraints, they may not be a bad idea. over-the-door-shoe-rack.jpg

If you have enough closet space, there are hanging shoe organizers. You can fit about 8-12 pair of shoes in the amount of space were you would usually have a few hanging pieces of clothing. The only drawback is that it’s hard to see your shoes and unless you have a photographic memory, you may have to go through each section to find your desired pair of shoes.hanging-shoe-rac.jpg

Then of course, there is the throw them in a Rubbermaid tote in the closet point of view. My daughter seems to think this is the way to go. Saves time and space. She can get a couple dozen pair of shoes in one bin. Then she just wears the pair at the top everyday. That’s organization.
