Columbia Sports Wear Company started in 1938 and has grow into one of the largest clothing and apparel companies worldwide with more than 13,000 retailers in 72 countries. Their main headquarters is based in Portland, Oregon and their family of brands includes Montrail, Mountain Hardwear, Pacific Trail, and Sorel. They also employ more than 2,700 people around the world. They manufacture some of the greatest outdoor clothing that can with stand some of the harshest weather and the best thing about their shoe line is, they last.
I first learned about Columbia Sports wear when I moved four years ago to Oregon’s Willamette Valley. It was the first winter here in the northwest and I had to hunt myself down a solid, sturdy coat that would shield me from the wind better than the leather and cloth lined jacket I was used to wearing in the Arkansas winter.
My journey took me to Joe’s, formerly G.I. Joes, where I found more than just a good jacket/coat. I found a whole line of Columbia sports wear items and I wanted to know more about them. I started question some staff at this sporting goods store and realized I was right in the heart of where Columbia Sports Wear got its start. I was given a map to the main headquarters store and this is where my love affair for Columbia took off.
The Columbia Sportswear Flagship Store is located right in the middle of Portland at 911 SW Broadway. I soon realized that a lot of my money was going to be spent here and the shoes are enough to make me want every size and style in the women’s line to grace my closet with their presents. And so I did. Because of this shoe fantasy, I now have some of the best made shoes on the market that I know will keep my feet nice and toasty as well as last from winter season to winter season. And I have even branched out to purchasing summer sandals as well.
