Ski Boots for Men and Women

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

This is the time of year to break out all those winter accessories and clothing and one of those things being ski boots. Sierra Trading Post has a wide selection of different styles and colors to suit any woman wanting to hit the slopes. A few of Shoe Boxers favorites are listed below.

The Bliss Alpine Ski Boots by Roxy: These boots have it all. They are designed to hug the woman’s foot shape and they don’t eat into your calves while you are wearing them. They have micro soft touch allow buckles that are secure and fit snug against the foot. The boots have a quilted down liner with a spandex upper liner around where the ankle is hugged by the boot. The spandex allows for easy on and easy off without having to struggle with the boot. The shell is made from bi-injected composite. The colors are orange, white and black and the inside is a purple and pink tie-dye look. Sizes come in 6-9 1/2 ($309.95)

Electra E12 Alpine Ski Boots by Rossignol: These ski boots are the same as the ones above by being constructed for the women’s foot specifically. The boots have a Thermo Fit liner with micro fleecing upper liner and have this same lining along the tongue area for comfort. The boots help give you increased control and micro-adjust buckles that help keep the boot into place while you are skiing. The color comes in blue transparent. Made in Italy and comes in sizes 6 to 10 1/2. ($298.95)

Bandit Alpine Ski Boots by Rossignol: These ski boots are my favorite. They are made and designed to give extra control for advanced skiers and the buckles on the ski boots are adjustable and rest against the boot so the lining doesn’t bunch up inside the ski boot as you are wearing them while you ski. They contain a thermo-moldable liner and have a polyurethane shell that is very durable. The color comes in orange and white with hints of black around the edges. The boots come in sizes 8-11 1/2. ($298.95

Wouldn’t this be just a wonderful day?

Puddle Jumper Shoes Infant Shoes

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

My son, when he was an infant, had two pairs of Puddle Jumper shoes his first pairs was this brand. It seemed like anytime he would have these shoes on, he was a happier baby. I say it was the shoes, others say it was just that he was a happy baby.

Even though the shoes I have passed down to his cousin, Ryan, I still hang onto the fact that the shoes made the boy happy. The bright colors also made anyone who saw him in the shoes, happy as well.

With the many selections that Puddle Jumper Shoes have, it’s no wonder parents and their children everywhere are happy to see the shoes as well. Shoe Boxers went back through and found two that are the favorites.

Of course the first favorites are the same pair my son had, the Brown Three Stitch. It is made so that it is the perfect shoe for the prewalker. The stitching is made so that the shoes can take the tumbling that the child will go through when trying to walk. They are $14 right now on their site, but run about $18. The color is brown and come in sizes 3-6 months through 12-15 months.

The second favorite in the infant category is the Cream Red Two Tone. The shoe is a classic. They are also great for the prewalker and are made with leather that is cream colored and a classy bright red as well. They run about $18 but you can pick them up now off their site for $14. They come in the same size as the style above.

Main Shoe Companies that are Going Strong and Offer More

Monday, September 29th, 2008

There is a lot to Tommy Hilfiger, with the selection of cologne, clothing in men’s, women’s and children, along with shoes in the same category as well. Tommy Hilfiger has everything in the handbag line as well. As well as belts, jackets, hoodies and coats. Tommy Hilfiger has even gone as far as offering a line in the home furnishings category as well. One of Shoe Boxers favorite shoe is the Women’s Tommy Hilfiger Ginger.

Tommy Hilfiger not your thing, then why not give Gucci a try. This brand has been around since models have been hitting the runways. Their line is one of the most popular among women, but there is a Gucci men’s line as well. They carry fashion that keeps up with the trends of the present day and continue to show that they are one of the main ones that will stick it out till the end. There shoe line is one of the best and one of the most expensive as well. The shoes are well constructed and Shoe Boxers just loves the Gucci Women’s Babouska.

Prada is among the same category as Gucci with the availablity and price of their clothing and accessories, but with one difference. Prada can’t be found in some stores like Gucci can. Prada is only found in high in specialty stores and offer a minuet selection at that. Shoe Boxers has come to realize that Prada is better purchased right off the main Prada website then going on a mad hunt looking to the fab fall collection of many shoes and accessories. Shoe Boxers love the Prada Men’s Shell Collection Shoe.

The Amazing Socks Rapha Carries

Friday, September 26th, 2008

Most people describe Rapha as a company that is always there for an avid cyclist. Because, the last thing you need on a long bike ride is your socks causing blisters or riding up into your cycling shoes. They have that blend classic style with optimum performance and will be there for your bike ride as long as you cycle for. They are mad of quality construction and prevent the foot from sweating inside the shoe.

Cyclists suffer enough along a long bike ride, but that doesn’t mean that you feet have to suffer along with your muscles as well. Rapha’s merino socks are made of extra fine merino wool, soft and naturally antibacterial. Which is a plus when you have been riding for hours. The hand lock stitching at the toe helps prevent rubbing of your sock on your skin while you ride.

Rapha’s Merino wool helps to keep the sweat under control better than any synthetic cycling sock can. In turn this helps to keep your feet cooler and drier in the summer and warmer and dry in cold weather.

The best feature that the Rapha Merino socks have is the fact that they are left and right footed, and stitched so that they fit each better and snug.

The socks come in small, medium, large, and x-large and come in colors of black with white or pink stripe or white with a black stripe along the toe. You can purchase the sock right off their website for under $30 for one pair.

What’s New with Hurley Shoes?

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

The Hurley brand started in the late 70s as a surf board company in Southern California. And then in the 80s branched out into the clothing line with a brother company named Billabong. Billabong and Hurley joined forces in 1998 and the Billabong brand soon became obsolete and Hurley took over as the main brand of clothing name as well with the surfboards. With the branching out of the Hurley clothing line comes some very well made and great styled shoes that look great on anyone, even if you aren’t a surfer. Here are some of the great styles that caught Shoe Boxers attention right away.

• Hurley Bonzai:
Durable leather upper provides comfort and support.
Logo quarter lay.
Goes with any outfit ready to hit the beach or the town.
Rubber outsole provides great traction.
Perforated detail for increased breath ability and style.
Padded collar and foot bed for increased comfort.

• Hurley Movement:
Great sandal for fun in the sun.
Perforated leather strap.
Super fabric construction.
Perforated leather foot bed.
Soft EVA insole.
Sectional rubber foot bed for superior traction and flex.

• Hurley Women’s Movement:
Lightly polished full grain leather upper in a casual skate.
Webbed fabric toe thong post.
Light weight.
Perforation accents.
Stitched center seam embellishment.
Hurley logo hang tag.

Of course these three are just a sample of the wonderful styles, inspired by surfing that Hurley has to offer. Check out their web page on the net or look for the top, seasonal and in style looks at any high end or surf-carrying style shop nationwide. There is enough styles by Hurley to satisfy anyone’s fashion sense.

Flexible Toes said to be the Secret to Healthier Feet

Thursday, July 24th, 2008

Yoga is becoming more and more popular with everyone of any age and any culture. More yoga inspired healing tips are being given by doctors for patience with back injuries or those suffering from headaches even. With this rise comes “yoga-inspired” products to help with that cause. One of these products I happened to have stumbled across when I was thumbing through the pages of the Dream Products Catalog. They are selling a product similar to Yoga Toes called Flexible Toes.

These Flexible Toes are to help relieve the pain from hammer toes, and bunions, as well as many other complications your toes or even your feet give you during the day or night. They are said to relieve stress on the feet that can cause serious issue and health problems later. Some of these issues may lead to back pain or even back problems that become more serious.

These Flexible Toes help realign the bones and help stretch the Achilles tendons which in turn helps relieve pain and stress that are caused by other issues. This helps increase flexibility and even helps with circulation within the foot and the rest of the body. You just wear them for 10 minutes a day and the relief can be felt right away. With continued use, the benefits can be a great way to help your feet and the rest of your body regain it’s youthful health. They are made of comfortable, stretchy foam and are easy to wear. You can pick up a set of two for under $13, right off their website, by clicking here.

Quick Slip-on Shoes for any Occasion and any Woman

Wednesday, June 11th, 2008

shoe1.jpg1. Canvas “Jack Purcell Dance”: A super-clean, subtle nod to the classic Jack Purcell ($45); Slip these on and you’ll almost forget they’re there. The lightweight, breathable canvas upper and soft micro suede lining wrap around your foot like a slipper, while the flexible foot bed and durable rubber outsole provide surprising support. The smile on the toe cap reflects a happy pair of feet.

2. Hemp “Carousel” ($50): These have an earthy charm that doesn’t veer into crunchy territory; Made of hemp, certified organic cotton lining, recycled car tire pedbeds, 100% post consumer paper pulp foot forms. Eco-friendly and more than just a shoe. It will cushion your foot with every step you make and will keep up with every step as well when it comes time to buy new. Be sure and recycle the shoe when it’s time has come.

3. Leather-Trim “Refreshment” ($69): Very gamine. Just add a comfy tee and a pair of Capri’s and get going. Big, flouncy laces give a pretty/sporty look to this delicate pair of shoes. Nothing says ahhhh like a day of shopping and your feet not hurting at the end of your spending spree. No woman likes to rub her feet after shopping, we would rather be showing off our new purchases. These shoes can help in that wonderful escapade.

4. Canvas and Leather “Queen” from Royal Elastics ($60): Like old-school hip-hop[ sneakers mixed with country hospital nursing shoes, but it doesn’t look too hospital and it totally works with any outfit. Not only are they comfortable they are also functional. Nurses are in the business to be on their feet for hours, why not out that same concept in summertime casual shoe anyone can wear anywhere?

5. Canvas “Audrey” ($80): This playful rummage of stripes and plaids is Nantucket done really chicly. They bring in the feel of the island boat house to the city streets and bring the flair of color and the casual of comfort with them. Holy 80s Shoe Flashback to Jelly Shoes

Thursday, May 29th, 2008

jelly.jpgLet’s start this 80s journey with jelly shoes. You had them, don’t lie. Every girl who was anyone had a pair and even if yours were falling apart and the plastic was coming apart from the bottom of the shoe you wore them.

Ultimately, jelly shoes were a flat shoe and some had a thick, clunky heel in a matching color to the shoe itself. The heels were usually low, maxing out at around two inches. And came in every color ranging from the classic black or white, to pastels or neon colors with glitter. There are many shoes that have taken the place of jelly shoes since the 80s but nothing can compare the jelly shoe no matter how hard a company tries.

These shoes got their name from the product they were made from–jelly rubber, a type of porous PVC rubber. The material didn’t feel much like jelly at all. In fact, they were quite hard and slightly uncomfortable with extended wear. The straps rubbed and caused blisters if you weren’t careful. If your feet got wet or sweaty, they’d slide around in the shoe. But, without a doubt jelly shoes were worn at the lakes, rivers and even beaches, even if a blister came later. The bottom line was, kids and some adults loved jelly shoes. Mainly because they were cheap, price wise.

Jelly shoes can still be purchased from the 80s style all the way up to the newer styles out in this modern world. If you still have a pair of jellies and would like to become an article piece here on Shoeboxers, drop me a message with the story behind your jelly shoes and why you love them still today.

crocs.jpgYeah, I know, you would never wear them and won’t be caught running through the jungle from a jaguar in them, because ultimately, they are plastic shoes with holes in them. But, Crocs® first arrival onto the world of fashion, they were the cat’s meow to a lot of people. I even own a pair that I use for gardening. But, Crocs® are more than just the random slip on shoe that have even gotten cheap imitation made of them from companies such as Payless. Their imitation brand, called Air Walks go for as little as $10 a pair and come in a varitey of colors just like Crocs® do. But, with you get a popularity of cheap shoe wearers not wanting to pay the Crocs® price.

They are a mix of clogs and comfort, made of a patented closed-cell resin that is said to be warmed by your feet so they soften and mold to their shape. They are a great shoe for boating or water-wading. The molded material is extremely lightweight, cushy, has a built-in arch support, has anti-slip soles and is anti-microbial. You can get them dirty, then wash them off without any damage.

The medical benefits of Crocs® :

Shoes? I Love Shoes

Friday, January 25th, 2008

orange-shoes.jpgHi, I’m Shelly and I have recently aquired Shoeboxers. I plan on talking mainly about shoes of course but may venture off to other topics such as the feet, or back or anything connected to the feet. I am sort of curious as to where I will take this blog as well. So we shall see how well I am ontop of my shoe knowledge. I have quite a few shoes and would love to just talk about them all day, but I know that it would become boring of course, if I haven’t lost you already.

Hopefully I can make this blog into something it’s never been before and that would be a high-traffic, fact bearing blog. I know there are a lot of new designers out there now and I will try my best to stay in the know about most of them. I even had the idea to interview a shoe salesman and see where that leads. Reflexology is a big part of the feet and the feet go inside of shoes, so I may hit on that a time or two just for fun.

I attended massage school for a year and a half and learned that the back is also connected to the feet and the way we walk on our soles. There is a lot I learned as far as feet go so this blog will touch on all sorts of shoe/feet related topics. I hope I can count on readers to visit here daily and maybe with this knowledge I post here and the latest shoe trends from some of the hottest designers, it will give you needed knowledge to pick out the right shoes for your god-given feet.

Avril Levigne has Ugly Shoes

Wednesday, May 16th, 2007

I love checking out the red carpet arrivals. In particular the shoes on the soles of the divas at those red carpet arrivals. Most recently I had the opportunity to check out Avril Levigne at her recent CD release party. Now, she was made up to the nines. But those Doc Martins do not go with that tuille skirt that she is sporting. I love Doc Martins. I dressed my daughters in them for years. But come on Avril, grow up.
