Pet Peeve — Unpainted Toe Nails in Open Toe Shoes

Wednesday, March 21st, 2007

I really, really, really hate the look of plain ole toe nails peeking from an open toe shoe or sandal. It just think it’s plain ugly. I see this everyday on the street. And I suppose that’s ok. But when I see celebrities who are making goo gobs of money with naked toe nails, it really irks me. I mean, they spend hundreds of dollars on the shoes for the red carpet occasion. Designers like Jimmy Choo, Christian Louboutin, Stuart Weitzman, Brian Atwood, Manolo Blahnik among others grace their pampered feet. I’m sure they have pedicures before the occasion as well. At least I hope so. (If not, I can hook them up for $15) So why not just put a little paint on those tootsies??? It greatly improves the presentation.

Check out these red carpet unpainted toes:

Buy Shoes that Fit!

Monday, January 8th, 2007

sophie-hyatt.jpgI was having a very hard time thinking of something new and original to write today, and then i saw this picture from the “Pursuit of Happyness” - London Premiere - Red Carpet Arrivals. Suddenly I realized I could add to my pet peeves category of rants. Now, when I look at this photo, there are a plethora of pet peeves that I instantly see. I keep asking myself, “How much attention does one person need?” Clearly she’s not wearing any underwear and what looks like two table cloths held together with some ribbon.

But this blog isn’t about tacky dressing. It’s about shoes. So take a gander at Sophia Hyatt’s feet. PET PEEVE: Toes hanging off the edge of sandals. I cringe when summer comes around for this very reason. Then she steps all over a second pet peeve. If you wear sandals, polish your toe nails.

This woman has to be the epitome of trashy. I googled her name, and it seems that she loves the trashy dressing crown. Thank goodness I couldn’t find anymore pictures of her feet.

Clickety Clackety Heels — Pet Peeve

Thursday, November 16th, 2006

I was walking behind a woman on my way to work the other day, and I wanted to trip her. Her shoes were doing that metal on cement thing. You know when the rubber piece that covers the heel comes off and needs replacing? Well, it was making this horrible sound on the ground. Reminiscent of scratching fingernails across a chalkboard. That is a number one pet peeve for me when it comes to shoes. If you take them to the shop, they cost maybe five bucks to replace. Then your shoes look better and you don’t irritate shoe freaks like me that happen to be walking behind you on the street.

If you buy better shoes, as in expensive shoes, READ more than Payless Shoe Source, they will even give you extra little rubber replacement things for your heels. And nice flannel bags for your shoes. I suppose that’s the least they could do when you have offered up your first born in exchange for pricey shoes.

If anyone can tell me what those things are called, you win some thing. I have to think of something. Hmmm, you will win my utmost admiration and respect for having such useless knowledge as what that rubber heel piece is called.

I have another pet peeve with shoes. It has to do with scuffed shoes. Previously wrote about men who wear scuffed shoes. Well, it applies to women too. Just shine them up and take care of your investment.

More pet peeves to come.

Big Foot Girl with a Grudge!

Monday, October 30th, 2006

I admit it. I have big ole feet. I wear a big shoe. But I do wear it well. After 3 kids my feet grew. So they are even bigger than they were when they were just big. Anyway, it just makes shoe shopping an act of desperation. I’m ordinarily a sale woman. But when it comes to shoes, I have to buy my size 10-11 when I can get them. The good news is that I have found a few dependable retailers for larger sizes. Nordstrom for one. They are sooo good at that store. They will stock 11’s if the shoe’s are made in that size. But, what I don’t understand, is that they will only buy 4 size 11’s and to 100 size 8’s. Then when the sale comes, what’s leftover? 59 size 8’s. Nordstrom.com also does a nice job of stocking larger sizes. Zappo’s has a dizzying array of large sizes. I nearly lost my mind the first time I logged onto that site. I don’t care for all of their shoes, but I can do a little damage at Nine West, and they too stock up to 11’s in most styles. My new favorte shopping site Piperlime also has a great variety of larger size shoes. On the higher end, I can usually find beautiful designer styles at SAKS. Look at the Brian Atwood cutie:platform-pump.jpg Not to mention that they have great sales.

I did a search on Google and found some interesting sites. Designer Shoes goes up to a women’s size 15!

When I look at Steve Madden shoes in stores, they barely have a 10, let alone an 11, so I was pleasantly surprised to see that they offer extended sizes on their website, up to a 12. Shoes.com claimed to have a large variety of large sizes, but when I searched on women’s size 11 they came up with zip.

With so many choices, I may just have to get over my grudge.
