Now it’s these gorgeous red patent peep toe pumps from Dolce & Gabbana. I can see these with everything from jeans, crop pants, capris, hot pants, evening dresses, little black dresses, mini dresses. Dress type: Mini
Despite the numerous women you see wearing stilettos, platforms and other towering shoes with their minis, this look spells HOOCHIE! Don’t do it. Keep your look feminine and flirty, in particular for day. Try a look like this:

nmt102y_mn.jpg 0474770619050_astl_300x400.jpg

Dress type: Wrap

My all time favorite dress style. So complimentary for the hour glass figure and ideal for faking one. Diane Von Furstenburg continues to design the wrap like noone else. Shoes to wear? Classic and elegant. Piperlime recommends a refined city sandal.

Wedges and chunky heel peep toes are the perfect companion to wrap dresss for day.

Perfect Party Shoes

Wednesday, December 13th, 2006

Did you know one of the best ways to intimidate a person is to look at their feet, back at their face, and back down to their feet? Unless of course, that person is wearing fabulous shoes, they won’t be intimidated. They will have ultimate shoe confidence. This party season, you too should have ultimate shoe confidence.

I spell shoe confidence S-E-X-Y! I know, I know, I love a beautiful shoe with a high - very high - heel. The details also make all the difference. For the perfect party shoes, check out the choices below:
hollywould-red.jpg

1. Seeing Red
A gorgeous red shoe is all you’ll need with jeans or a little black cocktail dress. Ava by Hollywould is just perfect. The slingback, bow and color will make you stand out in a crowd. $495 at Piperlime.

2. Patent Pendingstuart-weitzman.jpg
Patent leather isn’t just for little girls. This Stuart Weitzman 4 inch heel patent leather number named fever is hot! Available in Nordstrom Salon shoes. This shoe is perfect not just for a night out on the town, but for the office as well.

3. Black Powerbebe-red-sole.jpg

You can rarely go wrong with black shoes. And if you are attending a formal occasion, an awesome pair of black evening shoes is just the ticket. Bebe has a pair of suede platform pumps with a black patent ankle strap that is too cute for words. And what is unbelievable about these shoes is that they have a red sole. Yes, the cherished Christian Louboutin red sole. How the heck is Bebe getting away with that. It’s kind of like pagerism.

4. Bring on the Bling. jimmy-choo-studded.jpg

Glitzy shoes make a spectacular entrance and enviable exit. Just imagine the heads that will turn when you strut your stuff in these bejeweled Jimmy Choos. For all the bling factor with these shoes, let’s not forget that they are at the same time classic. Ten years from now, these very same shoes would make a grand entrance and exit all over again. And for the asking price, they better.

5. The Price is Right
Now if you just need a cute pair of shoes that you can throw in the closet and forget about as soon as the night is over, check out these sassy sandals from Payless. With jewels and bows and priced under $25, you can’t go wrong.

Get your party shoes on. Go out there an intimidate!

How to Buy Comfortable Heels

Saturday, November 11th, 2006

Comfortable heels. No, it’s not an oxymoron. There really are some shoes out there that are stylish and sexy both. Please don’t forsake fashion for fundamental functionalism. Don’t give in to tacky flip flops or ugly Birkenstocks.

What do you look for in a comfortable heeled shoe?
1. Be sure you buy the right size. Many times our feet change in size over the years. Even half a size can make the difference between walking and wincing in pain or walking with a serious strut. Have your feet measured the next time you buy a pair of shoes.

2. Look for a wide base where the heel meets the bottom of the shoe. This lends more support to the heel and puts less stress on the balls of your feet. I have a pair of BCBG’s with a 3 1/2 inch heel that I can wear all night because of this feature.

3. Try a kitten heel. They aren’t quite as high as their 3 and 4 inch stiletto sisters, but they are quite cute, curvy and many shoe designers have quite a selection of kitten heels.kitten-heel.jpg

4. A little padding under the ball of the foot works wonders. Either padding on the inside of the shoe or a thicker sole (or both) provide excellent shock absorption for the ball of the foot. Platform pumps which are all the rage this season are an even better choice, especially when they have the built in cushioning. This Via Spiga pump at Nordstrom.com is the perfect example.via-spiga-wave-pump.jpg

What shoes to wear with your Jeans

Monday, November 6th, 2006

A question from a reader gave rise to this blog today. What shoes to wear with jeans? That’s a great question considering jeans are a staple in most wardrobes today. Skinny jeans are the trend for this year. though you won’t catch me in them , read – SKINNY jeans. I’ll defer to the fashion experts on who should put their hips into a pair of skinny jeans. If you aren’t supermodel Kate Moss, or at least have the body of one, back off the skinny jeans.kate-moss-skinny-jeans.bmpOk, back on what shoes to wear with your skinny jeans. If you have seen them, they typically have a long leg that flows onto the instep and over the heel. Thus making them the ideal jean for heels. Stilettos are perfect. 7-skinny-jeans.jpgYou can dress up your jeans with a fancy schmancy party shoe. Try metallic and jewels. Lacy sandals are nice for parties too. Tall wedges work can also rock this look. A bootie (although I hate them) would work well with this style as well. Skinny jeans are perfect for tucking into boots because they lack all that superflous fabric that most non-skinny jeans have. skinny-jean-group-shot-in-boots.jpg
With boot cut jeans (wider in the calf area), guess what works well? None other than boots. Especially this time of the year. Go glamour with a pointy toe, pointy heel boot, or do a tamer sensible version of a boot with a fuller heel and toe. runway-skinn-jeans-and-pumps.jpg
A nice flat in a different color or fabric would rule. Check out my Flat Lining blog for suggestions on flat to wear.
