Foot Doctor, is there a Need?

The feet are the one thing that most people over look when it comes to taking care of yourself. With neglect of the feet comes other issues that may be making the rest of your body hurt or even ache. The feet are connected to so many other parts of the body that you may not be targeting the main source when treating your back pain, neck pain or even chronic headaches.

Foot doctors do more than just clean your feet. They also treat other ailments within the feet, legs and upper body. But how do you know when you need to see a foot doctor? Here is a small check list to see if your next appointment should be with your local podiatrist.

1. Do your feet hurt at all? Does it hurt when you walk or even when you touch them?

2. Do you have any sort of infection, gout; hang nails, or anything that looks abnormal?

3. Are you over weight and your feet are suffering? Do you wear heels or shoes that are too tight or cramp the toes?

4. Do you suffer from poor circulation? Or diabetes?

5. Do you have acute attack of pain or tingling in your big toe, or any other toe?

6. Are you over the age of 50?

If you answered yes to one or more of these questions it may be time to see a podiatrist. Even if you answered yes to the last question, it can’t hurt to see how well your feet are doing. It could be something small and if over looked and not treated could turn into something bigger.
