Flip Flops, I’ll Pass
I’m not big on flip flops. I wear them when I’m getting a pedicure or when I’m at the beach or pool. So, I’m trying to figure out when flip flops became so fashionable. According to Wikipedia: In footwear and fashion, flip-flops are a kind of flat, backless sandal that consist of a flat sole held on the foot by a u-shaped strap that passes between the first (big) and second toes and around either side of the foot, attached to the sole at three points, commonly known as the thong strap. They appear to have been developed out of traditional Japanese woven or wooden soled sandals (i.e., zori and setta) in New Zealand.
My 19 year old daughter has dozens of pairs of flip flops. Sort of like flip flops for every occasion. But what kills me is she has the nerve to dis girls from Southern California because they wear flip flops in the rain. (She’s a college student in Northern California). Anyway, my daughter wants to be an etailer of flip flops. So I thought I’d do a little investigation into the market. There are flip flops for the earth out there.
I like this site, Flipfloptrunkshow – they have every flip flop you could imagine.
But I’m not paying $48 for a flip flop with a Rhinestone earring attaching to it.
Then there flipflopstyle, they claim “it’s a way of life”. Hmmmm. Maybe in Hawaii.
I’m trying to think where I’d where a red platform flip flop…
My favorite has to be Funkyflipflops. Flip Flops with heels! I am sort of drawn to the asian inspired flip flop. It’s silk after all. I could practice my geisha girl moves in this one.

And if it’s funky, it has to be good.
