MIA is a Swedish Brand from the beginning. Its stands for Mahults Industri AB. Mahult is a small village outside Halmstad in Sweden. Nils Möllersten started the company and 1976 he started to sell the the MIA shoes through a distributor in the US. It was a hugh success and the designed shoes was used all over the US. 1984 the trend was over with designed clogs and the distributor in the US took over the name and started making shoes in Brazil under the name MIA without paying any money to the owner of the brand. Their company is based in Miami now.
